Betting probability and risk explained

A possible return is not a forecast. Separate the outcome of one bet from the reasoning behind it.

Betting probability and risk explained

The same bet has the same result

Two people backing the same selection under the same settlement rules receive the same winning or losing result. Different prices can change their returns, not the match outcome.

Do not mistake short-term results for proof that a method works. One win does not establish a profitable strategy.

A probability example

In a hypothetical bet at decimal 2.00, a 50% winning chance gives an expected return equal to the stake before costs. That does not predict the next result.

If the true chance were lower, the same price would imply a lower expected return. Estimating the chance is the difficult part; the odds alone do not establish it.

Independence matters

For three independent hypothetical events at 50% each, the chance of all three happening is 12.5%. Connected events cannot be treated the same way.

Losses can cluster. Do not increase the stake because a winning result feels due.

Limit what you can lose

Read betting budgets before placing another bet.

A probability model does not protect essential spending or guarantee a return.
